Processor-Controlled Test (PCT) Overview

The ScanWorks® Processor-Controlled Test solution, previously known as MicroMaster, is a test and debug solution for assembled boards (PCBAs) that are controlled by a processor with debug port control.

The control of the processors allows PCT to apply instructions at-speed to the UUT without the need of the BIOS.

By controlling the debug interface, PCT tests all devices that are under normal control of the CPU with minimal access to the UUT.

Processor controlled test provides at-speed testing at the functional layer with diagnostics at the structural layer. Watch this short movie for more details.

Applications include board prototyping and New Product Introduction (NPI), manufacturing test and fall-out repair, board failure analysis, fast flash programming, and field return repairs.

How Can PCT Help You?

Extend Coverage

Debug Intel®-based Boards Without JTAG Support

Most Intel® CPU boards have little JTAG support. PCT can test and debug these boards without using JTAG. more info »

Debug Dead Boards

Dead Board Diagnosis

PCT provides extensive fault diagnostics, even on dead boards. Other functional test systems give little or no feedback unless a large part of the board's components are working. more info »

Fast Functional Test

Fast Functional Test

PCT performs fast functional testing before system-level tests. This catches failures early in the manufacturing cycle, cutting costs. Test times are reduced and diagnostic feedback is greatly improved. more info »

Fast Flash Programming

Fast Flash Programming

PCT Fast Flash Programming can reduce programming times down to less than 10 seconds per megabyte. This feature is ideally suited to board manufacturing and high volume firmware upgrades. more info »

Guided Fault Isolation

Guided Fault Isolation (GFI)

Guided Fault Isolation (GFI) simplifies fault diagnosis by indicating the most likely cause(s) of failure on a block diagram of the board. more info »
