PRESS ROOM - PRESS RELEASES

Maxim seeks ASSET ScanWorks'
embedded instrumentation support for its
system and power management chips

Maxim joins growing list of instrumentation solutions providers
who are choosing ScanWorks' open tools

Richardson, TX (August 12, 2008) - ASSET® InterTech (www.asset-intertech.com), the leading supplier of open tools for embedded instrumentation, has announced that its ScanWorks® platform supports unique margining and forensics capabilities through several of Maxim Integrated Products' (www.maxim-ic.com) system monitor and system manager devices.

ScanWorks can be used with Maxim's MAX16031/MAX16032 system monitors and MAX16046-MAX16049 system managers through the devices' IEEE 1149.1 Boundary Scan interface, commonly known as JTAG. One example of a ScanWorks application would be measuring and manipulating voltages so that power supplies on circuit boards and in systems could be functionally validated.

ScanWorks is powerful in that it can access, automate and analyze embedded instrumentation, such as the voltage margining, embedded in these devices, said Rick Gould, Executive Director, Business Management, in Maxim's System and Power Management Business Unit. Several of our customers requested we seek ScanWorks support. Now, engineers can use our tools during design and ScanWorks throughout the product lifecycle, including design, manufacturing and field service.

Maxim now supplies a family of devices which can margin voltages and measure system current, temperature and voltage variations, storing the results, said Dave Bonnett, technical marketing manager for ASSET. These capabilities are essential for systems with high-reliability requirements, such as telecom systems, servers and storage.

ScanWorks® - The Embedded Instrumentation Platform

ASSET, through its ScanWorks platform, is applying the experience it has gained from two decades as a leading supplier of boundary-scan test tools utilizing JTAG access to the development of open embedded instrumentation tools. ASSET has significantly enhanced its ScanWorks platform with embedded instrumentation capabilities such as CPU-emulation functional test, signal integrity analysis utilizing Intel® IBIST (Interconnect Built-In Self-Test), an embedded instrumentation technology, and others.

ASSET InterTech - Driving Embedded Instrumentation

ASSET InterTech supplies open tools for embedded instrumentation to engineers doing design validation, test and debug. Besides ScanWorks, ASSET's MicroMaster product line employs true CPU emulation technology to perform extensive functional test and diagnostic routines on circuit boards and chips, and to program logic and memory devices in-system at high CPU speeds. ASSET InterTech is located outside of Dallas, TX, at 2201 North Central Expressway, Suite 105, Richardson, TX 75080.
