It wasn't so very long ago – three years to be exact – that we, ASSET and International Test Technologies (ITT), realized the tremendous synergy which could be generated by collaborating on a converged test environment capable of both boundary-scan structural test and processor-based functional emulation testing. Expanding your test coverage was our short-term objective and we accomplished this with ASSET’s Extended JTAG Coverage system. Now, as our two companies become one, we turn to the longer term where,we believe things will be getting very interesting.

MicroMaster delivers extensive test coverage

The MicroMaster processor emulation technology developed by International Test Technologies (ITT) and recently acquired by ASSET complements and extends ScanWorks’ JTAG test coverage by performing a variety of at-speed functional tests and diagnostics. In the end, it’s all about test coverage and MicroMaster is able to reach new realms and assert new types of test routines that deliver even higher levels of coverage.

ASSET acquires International Test Technologies

Test coverage will increase by tightly coupling ScanWorks’s structural boundary scan test and MicroMaster’s functional emulation testing

Culminating a three-year strategic relationship, ASSET InterTech recently announced that it was acquiring International Test Technologies of Ireland. The two companies teamed up back in 2004 when they collaborated on ASSET’s Extended JTAG Coverage product, a melding of ITT’s MicroMaster processor emulation test system into ASSET’s ScanWorks structural JTAG test environment.

ASSET recently expanded the embedded instrumentation capabilities of ScanWorks by adding to the applications that support Intel Corporation’s new test and design validation technology, Interconnect Built In Self Test (IBIST). Intel is embedding IBIST into its next-generation server and workstation chipsets, such as the 5300 and 7300 Series Quad-Core Intel Xeon® processor-based platforms, as well as the Nehalem processor platforms with the Intel QuickPath interconnect architecture.

The winner of the drawing of participants in ASSET’s recently distributed functional test survey, Eric Wilner, was only trained on ScanWorks a short while ago, but he’s already saving a lot of time with ScanWorks’ test development tools.

Fenton sees bright future following ASSET and ITT merger

Billy Fenton, one of the founders of International Test Technologies (ITT) and its predecessor company, has seen the peaks and valleys over the years. He’s been involved with board test and various forms of non-intrusive test technologies since the mid-1980s. And now, with the merger of ITT and ASSET, he sees a bright future ahead for the new ASSET InterTech.

Activity Analyzer can optimize use of ScanWorks licenses

Purchasing the optimum number of ScanWorks licenses with the right combination of features for an organization with multiple user locations can be tricky, if not downright daunting. Without access to the ScanWorks capabilities that are needed at the time they are needed and where they are needed, work will slow down. Now, a new feature of the ScanWorks Hosted License Server,the Activity Analyzer, compiles detailed usage information so that organizations can provide their users the right number of licenses and the precise mix of features they need.
