French telecomm firm shares a ScanWorks license between two facilities 800 km apart

The French telecommunications equipment manufacturer AETA.COM was faced with a dilemma. First, it had a boundary-scan test system that could not find a problem on one of the firm’s board designs. And second, the two facilities that needed access to boundary scan test capabilities were 800 km apart. On both counts, ASSET’s ScanWorks had an effective solution.

“ScanWorks and ASSET’s local support people were able to help us quickly identify a design problem on one of our circuit boards,” explained Gerard Lamar, technical director for AETA.COM. “We found that ScanWorks is easy to use and it is very powerful. It gives us very good test coverage and its extensive diagnostic capabilities quickly isolate faults. We use ScanWorks to perform JTAG tests on prototypes in our research and development facility and on production boards in our manufacturing plant. We also use ScanWorks to load on-board flash memory devices in our manufacturing facility.”

AETA.COM’s manufacturing facility is located in Paris while its research and development department is 800 km away in the south of France in Aix en Provence. With ASSET’s network licensing for ScanWorks, AETA.COM’s two facilities are able to efficiently share the company’s ScanWorks license.

“On a typical day, the people in our manufacturing facility work with ScanWorks almost all day long,” said Mr. Lamar. “But when our design department needs to test or diagnose a prototype, they can access the ScanWorks license that is available on our private network. The network licensing makes it very convenient and efficient for the entire company.”

By using ASSET’s network licensing arrangement, AETA.COM’s two facilities can share a ScanWorks license, deploying it where and when it is needed.
