INSIDE ASSET

Win an iPod! Add to ASSET’s growing library of non-boundary scan device models

ASSET is offering a free iPod MP3 player to whoever submits the most non-boundary scan (cluster) device models between now and February 28, 2005. The models will become part of ASSET’s online library which now numbers approximately 7,300.

To qualify, each model submitted must be a new addition to the online library and ASSET must be able to verify, at its discretion, that the model is accurate. We ask that you share with us your validation method for each model. In fact, any cluster model that has been tested in a ScanWorks project against actual hardware will receive double credit in the tally for the iPod. So, make sure you let us know how you tested your cluster models.

The way ScanWorks handles cluster device models plays a major role in increasing test coverage, in reducing the time it takes to develop tests and in optimizing the safety of a circuit board. And the availability of cluster models in an online library, automates the test development and deployment process even further. For a Connect article on how ScanWorks handles cluster models, click here.

Enter the race for the iPod by going to ScanWorks’ main user interface screen and clicking on the “Tools/Manage Models” drop-down menu. Then click on the “Models-on-the-Web” option. Select “Cluster Model” as the type of device model that you want to submit and then click on the “Submit File” button. Look for the device’s file name to determine whether the model is already in the library and, if it hasn’t been submitted, fill in the “Description,” “Author” and “Submitter” fields. After clicking on the “Submit” button, you’ll be able to add test information and comments by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the next screen. This is where you can earn double credit for a model that has been tested in a ScanWorks project against actual hardware.

Check back on the model submission page often to see who’s ahead in this race for the iPod. Winners will be announced in early March 2005.
