For Electronic Manufacturing Services
(EMS) firms, achieving high yields on manufactured
circuit boards and sub-assemblies is imperative. But,
testing to achieve a higher yield must be done efficiently.
That's just what ScanWorks with its JTAG capabilities
has provided for a number of EMS firms who now are
deeply committed to boundary scan test processes.
Jabil, for
example, reduced its ICT test development costs significantly
when it teamed ScanWorks with Agilent Technologies'
3070 ICT systems. Another EMS, Reptron
Manufacturing Services, compiled a thorough study
that demonstrated the accelerated return on investment
(ROI) it received from ScanWorks. Moreover, SMT,
a contract manufacturer, faced an unacceptable failure
rate on a circuit board with poor ICT test coverage
because of limited physical access. Once SMT
combined boundary scan and ICT, the failure rate dropped
precipitously.
OEMs working with EMS firms have found that deploying
ScanWorks early in the manufacturing process pays
off handsomely throughout a product's life cycle.
ADC, for instance, saw
its yields on lots of manufactured circuit boards
increase from the 10 to 60 percent range to well over
90 percent when it worked with its EMS to implement
ScanWorks. As a startup, Neoscale
saved significant debug time when it began using ScanWorks
on the circuit boards it received from its EMS .
