ASSET InterTech provides unique tools for accessing embedded instrumentation: Boundary Scan, CPU Emulation, Intel® IBIST.
For Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) firms, achieving high yields on manufactured circuit boards and sub-assemblies is imperative. But, testing to achieve a higher yield must be done efficiently. That's just what ScanWorks with its JTAG capabilities has provided for a number of EMS firms who now are deeply committed to boundary scan test processes.
Jabil, for example, reduced its ICT test development costs significantly when it teamed ScanWorks with Agilent Technologies' 3070 ICT systems. Another EMS, Reptron Manufacturing Services, compiled a thorough study that demonstrated the accelerated return on investment (ROI) it received from ScanWorks. Moreover, SMT, a contract manufacturer, faced an unacceptable failure rate on a circuit board with poor ICT test coverage because of limited physical access. Once SMT combined boundary scan and ICT, the failure rate dropped precipitously.
OEMs working with EMS firms have found that deploying ScanWorks early in the manufacturing process pays off handsomely throughout a product's life cycle. ADC, for instance, saw its yields on lots of manufactured circuit boards increase from the 10 to 60 percent range to well over 90 percent when it worked with its EMS to implement ScanWorks. As a startup, Neoscale saved significant debug time when it began using ScanWorks on the circuit boards it received from its EMS.
ADC Telecom
"Our
boards have no in-circuit testing (ICT) capability due to extremely
high chip density," said John Howard, manufacturing manager for
the BATG Division of ADC Telecom Inc., in Cleveland, OH. "There
was no room for test points and physical access to the fine pitch
pins is very limited. It was taking us up to a month to test, troubleshoot
and bring up a batch of 50 boards. With the testability services
we've received from ASSET InterTech's Ensure DFT Division, as well
as our contractors use of the ASSET boundary scan test and in-system
programming system, we can now bring up a batch of boards in hours
versus days." Read more>

ScanWorks® Completes Successful Assessment at Jabil Circuit.
One of the first places electronics manufacturers look to reduce
expenses is through the elimination of redundant effort. Jabil
Circuit, Inc. one of the top Electronic Manufacturing Services
providers was first to perform early assessment of Agilent Technologies'
and ASSET InterTech's joint effort to enable manufacturers
to leverage boundary scan tests across the product life cycle. Read

NeoScale Systems
The
ScanWorks® JTAG system tracks down faults missed by other test
methods. For a start-up electronic company like NeoScale Systems,
Inc., a provider of enterprise storage security solutions, time
is of the essence. That's why NeoScale is making full use of ASSET's
ScanWorks JTAG test and programming system. Read

SMT Unlimited
When
contract manufacturer SMT Unlimited L. P. ran into a high failure
rate on a densely populated telecommunications board, Hom-Ming
Chang, Vice President of Test Engineering and Information Systems,
wasn't sure what he could do to solve the problem. "We really don't
have boundary scan (IEEE 1149.1 JTAG) expertise on our staff here," Mr.
Chang said. "So we turned to Ensure DFT to help us and they developed
a test program for us that's been very successful. In one case,
we've gone from having an unacceptably high failure rate to a failure
rate close to zero. I'd say that was very successful." Read

Reptron Manufacturing Services
EMS
firm finds that JTAG testing with ScanWorks pays for itself by
saving "money, time and company resources." Accelerated ROI: The
ScanWorks JTAG system reduced troubleshooting time by 1,457 percent!
Because of the nature of its business, Reptron Manufacturing Services,
an electronics manufacturing services (EMS) company with its headquarters
in Tampa, Fla., and a major manufacturing facility in Hibbing,
MN, had to be certain that its investment in boundary-scan test
equipment would not only generate a healthy return on investment,
but it would do so over a very short period of time. The firm found
its solution in ASSET's ScanWorks boundary-scan test and in-system
programming environment. Read more>
