In the defense and aerospace industry, reliability and availability are of great importance. And, as with many industry segments that are more commercial, fast turn-around on JTAG test development and generation is just as critical to keeping projects on schedule. Mercury Computer Systems faced complex board-level designs that required the utmost in product reliability. The difficulties faced by Raytheon/ODS had an added logistical element to them. JTAG test portability was a concern because designs and prototypes were developed and built in one location while assembly and manufacturing took place in another. Another Defense Contractor found that in many cases it could avoid long and drawn out functional test processes by combining ScanWorks’boundary scan test capabilities with flying probe test, streamlining the overall JTAG test process considerably and bringing projects in on time.
