Hardware-Assisted Debug and Trace within the Silicon

Software debug has changed dramatically and for the better, especially with Intelโ€™s introduction of new trace IP in its silicon and ARMโ€™s enhanced trace macrocells.

Legacy debug methods with printf() are too often more trouble than they are worth. Using the RELEASE build and not the DEBUG build often causes problems with code execution timing, usually triggering more debugging efforts. Right back where you started. And very time consuming too with no added value to the product. Plus, printf() statements add code bloat with their support libraries. Not what you need either.

Now with trace IP in both Intel and ARM devices, life is so much easier. This new eBook starts with traditional debug methods and takes you on a journey all the way to the how-to’s and benefits of trace.

Bon Voyage!
